 Cleaning With Vinegar

Clean, deodorize and sharpen the blades of  your garbage disposal

by tossing in a few vinegar ice cubes weekly. Make sure you keep these special cubes in a freezer bag marked “vinegar cubes”.

Clean the coffee maker with vinegar:

Fill the water reservoir with 1 cup or more of white distilled vinegar and run it through a whole cycle. Run it once or twice more with plain water to rinse clean. (Check the owners’ manual first.) Another quick tip to clean the coffee pot when it is not in use is to put an inch high layer of ice cubes and pour the vinegar into the pot until is covers all the ice.  Swirl the mixture around the pot and it will loosen the coffee stains from the sides.  Sponge clean and rinse.

Cleaning Your Computer with vinegar:

Vacuum, that’s right, vacuum your computer screen and keyboard with the bristle nozzle attachment (make sure your computer is off).  When you are finished take a damp COTTON cloth (to avoid static) and give it a light spritz of a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water from your spray bottle on to the damp cloth.  Wipe down your screen, keyboard, mouse, cables and desktop too.

Clean your car with vinegar

  • Clean the car’s interior with a mix of vinegar and water, equal parts.
  • Polish the chrome with a cotton cloth on the outside.
  • Put a bowl of vinegar in your car overnight to remove odor. Also works great in your kitchen after cooking “smelly” foods.
  • In the winter, coat your automobile’s windows with vinegar. It will prevent frost.
  • It also works as a windshield cleaner.
  • Spray a mix of equal parts water and vinegar on any road salt stains on the carpet. Blot with towel.

Clean up after your pet with vinegar

Kill mold and bacteria with vinegar
Straight vinegar reportedly kills 82 percent of mold and 99.9% of common bacteria found in your home. Pour some white distilled vinegar straight into a spray bottle, spray on the moldy area, and let set without rinsing if you can put up with the smell. It will dissipate in a few hours. Please remember to wear rubber gloves and safety goggles, as even though this is a natural product, it is an irritant.

5 steps to a clean, green driving machine!

Does the interior of your car look like a college dorm room after a party? Does it smell like one? If the answer is YES then…

It’s time to perform a Green Spring Clean on your car.

If your car is like mine it is full of stray papers, wrappers, old tissues, various toys and items that have made their way from the home to the car via little gremlins “aka” the children. Now is the time to check the car off your spring cleaning to do list by following these five car cleaning tips.

Step 1: De-Cluttering

The first step of the spring cleaning is a de-cluttering. Simply grab two bags; one for trash and one for items to keep and go to town. A word of caution: don’t mix these bags up or you might find yourself consoling your two year old at 2 am because you accidentally tossed out Mr. Snuggles. Go through the entire car (don’t forget storage areas and under the seats) and collect all extraneous items and trash. When you are finished with the interior, head out back to the trunk. Remove everything, tossing out garbage and setting aside unnecessary items that have collected over time. Don’t forget to promptly find a home for these items unless you want to be like me, driving around for months with a cow in your trunk
